In addition, the Marine engraved the slogan SHEATH ME NOT WITHOUT FREEDOM along the right side of the blade. On the pommel is engraved: DRAW ME NOT WITHOUT REASON. The Knife started life as a standard U. S. M. C. Issue KA BAR Knife, with U. S. M. C marked
