It bears original green paint and is marked on the top with a Waffenamt paint stamping and German maker markings and date stamped into the steel:

Under this is is marked with serial number 6835 and date 昭 18

so good that they must be correct post war replacements

but was renamed Stalag VIII-F towards the end of the year

The bottom of the bag shows heavy deterioration and tearing

This is a very nice early WWII white summer flight helmet worn by a Navy or Marine pilot in the early stages of the war, which has been modified to take a set of TH 37 Earphones, with an attached scarce set of AN 6530 goggles. The elastic strap of the goggles is stenciled J. E. ORWIG, identifying the set to U. S. Naval Reserve Ensign Joseph Earl Orwig, who trained as an Aviation Cadet in the Navy for several years
